Winery Focus
Brick House
All of the Brick House wines are produced and bottled by hand on their 40 acre farm. They count on indigenous yeast fermentations. Rarely do they fine and never do they filter Brick House wines. When the vintage... or a part of it... merit special designation, they bottle the Cuvee du Tonnelier (or the Barrelmaker's Batch) as the finest expression of their estate's unique climate and terrain.
At Brick House, "organically grown" is more than just a phrase on the labels of their wines. They are committed to the old ways. From their first planting in May of 1990 until today, they have relied on basics. All of their fruit is estate grown. All of it is certified organic. Elemental sprays like sulfur combat disease. Fundamental farming controls weeds and shapes the hillsides beneath their vines.
The winery at Brick House is open to the public over the Thanksgiving Day weekend, and by appointment the rest of the year.

Brick House Pinot Noir "Les Dijonais" 2007
Price $42.00
$42 / bottle Lately, I've backed away from '07 pinots. I think they are very good, even great at times, but the fact is, the wine buying public has been scared off a bit by bad press regarding the vintage. (By contrast, they are enamored with the '08s, for good reason.) But this is one top-flight '07 worthy of acquisition. The wine is sappy and intense, with big red-fruit flavors, bright acidity, and exquisite detail through the middle and into the long finish. I just tasted it yesterday, and I exclaimed aloud because the wine was so good. This is the one I would take home for dinner. You should do the same. Read More...

Brick House Pinot Noir Cuvee du Tonnelier 2007
Price $42.00
The ’07 Cuvee du Tonnelier is a medium ruby hue, with beguiling aromatics of fresh fruit, warm spice and hints of earth. The wine dances across the palate with grace and poise, throwing out plenty of pretty fruit flavors while remaining lithe. The finish is fruit-based and detailed. No, it’s not an inkly-purple palate-bruiser – but that’s a good thing! It’s an hommage to traditional pinot noir balance and purity – an ode to elegance. It’s a wine that engages all the senses rather than overpowering those senses. It’s also lovely to drink now, with some upside potential in the cellar. It’s Burgundian, really. Read More...
