This is from the White Rose Vineyard, a Dundee Hills property somewhat down the slope from Domaine Serene. Patty Green made the vineyard notable until the vineyard sold to a new owner six or seven years ago. That winery has not elevated the reputation of the site with their own bottlings, but this dazzler from St. Innocent showcases the vineyard beautifully!

This pinot possesses a distinctive perfume of juicy red fruits tinged by red rose petals. Those notes are echoed on the palate, with fruit high-toned red fruit flavors supported by bright acidity that provides cut and lift. The wine is young, but only a modicum of super-fine tannins is obvious now, and it is thoroughly melted into all that gorgeous fruit. The wine has an almost weightless impression on the palate, and delivers the fruit flavors in an intense, layered and long-lingering fashion. I love the style here, which really showcases the unique site and combines intensity and elegance in an irresistible package. Highly recommended.
