Beaux Freres Pinot Noir Estate “Beaux Freres Vineyard” 2008

$72 / bottle WS 93 points! - CALL TO INQUIRE ABOUT CASE DISCOUNTS
"Light in color and body, this is deftly balanced to let the gorgeous raspberry, cherry and espresso flavors emerge easily and waft through the long, expressive finish, remarkably without much weight. Impressive for its style and refinement. Drink now through 2018. 3,400 cases made." –HS

On the first night open, the 2008 Beaux Freres Pinot Noir Estate is a beguiling wine, highly aromatic and perfumed. On the palate, it currently shows a sweet, supple character with mouth-filling fruit that tends to a saturated dark red, framed by gentle toast notes and expressing a clear minerality, and has truly amazing length. It is not weighty with alcohol, and is impeccably balanced. I drank part of the bottle the first night, and it went down very nicely indeed. On the second night, the wine became more expansive, and starting to show a bit more power. The fruit had gained weight, and that tremendously long finish was, if anything, even longer.

The '08 Beaux Freres Estate is a fascinating wine to try now, one that shows remarkably well this young. That said, I think that, like most of the very best '08s, there is a LOT of structure in reserve here, and the wine is surely a top candidate for cellaring.
